ONLINE. IOL Alternative Provision Launch Meeting. Open to the Public.
Online meeting.
Open to the public.
A free event for everyone who is interested in finding out more.
We have heard several announcements concerning how Alternative Provision (AP) needs greater regulation from the Department for Education recently, at the same time, at a recent Westminster Forum it was recognised that there was not a support network for those in this community to share ideas and have a voice to support the workforce.
We would like to invite you to an online gathering where the vision for the group will be presented, followed by a discussion concerning what the community would like to achieve through this group.
There are a number of changes on the horizon for the education sector. In particular the DfE are looking into the impact of what is being delivered to children and the monitoring of attendance. An example of this is that those concerned with delivering Alternative Provision will need to be familiar with the annual publication of Keeping Children Safe in Education (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/keeping-children-safe-in-education--2) otherwise known as KCSIE24 and there is an expectation of daily attendance reporting in ‘timely fashion’. More information on the developments will be coming out over the summer, which will be shared at the September webinar.
If you are interested in this area of the outdoors, please do join us on the 16th September.
Mike King
Chair of IOL Trustees and Chair of the IOL Alternative Provision Group
CEO, Releasing Potential
I was appointed as an IOL Trustee in Feb 2010 and had the privilege of supporting IOL as the Chair of the Trustee Board. I started working in the outdoors when I was a 16 years old apprentice and now 30 years later I have the privilege of continuing to enable people to engage with the outdoor environment.
Through this journey in the outdoors I have overseen the development of Releasing Potential which is an education charity that comprises of an Independent Special School, Academic Institute and Forest Schools amongst its interests. I became a trustee as I believe that interaction (in any form) with the outdoors is a positive vehicle for change in people’s lives, enabling them to understand who they are and what they can become.
I look forward to meeting members of the organisation and helping to develop relationships that supports a positive interaction with the outdoors for the whole of society.
