Youth Council UK (YCUK) is the new national platform for youth voice, built by and for young people across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales (and crown dependencies). Its purpose is to amplify youth voice, connect changemakers, empower young people and create real opportunities for young people to shape and lead.
The launch of Youth Council UK is moving forward at pace to ensure that young people across the UK are heard and involved in decision-making at a national level. We encourage you to join and share this with your networks to help them learn about the programme and consider getting involved. It is vital that young people across the country have equal access to YCUK, and this can only be achieved if we work together to spread the word.
Young people should be seen and heard. Youth Council UK is a new national platform created to make that happen.
YCUK exists to amplify young people’s voices and make sure they influence decisions at every level. It brings organisations who work with young people, together to elect young representatives who will shape policy, lead campaigns and speak directly to government and decision-makers.
YCUK launched in October after an extensive consultation and co-creation process with young people and expert advisors. Following the closure of the British Youth Council after 70 years, YCUK is committed to carrying forward key learnings from the previous programme and new ideas to create strong, inclusive and youth-led space for changemaking.
We are telling you this because there is a place at the table for you and the young people you work with.
