Outdoor Learning Stakeholder Group

Overview

The Outdoor Learning Stakeholder Group brings together a consortium of organisations representing the outdoor learning sector in its broadest sense.  This is a community of outdoor learning organisations networking with the purpose of:

  • Sharing relevant news and specific projects which are of interest.
  • Discuss and support with challenges which are facing the sector.
  • Present insights which might inform the strategic direction of the sector.
  • Hear about key developments relating to research, government strategy and funding opportunities influencing the sector.
  • Offer a joined-up voice where appropriate to influence and develop the sector.

Members are drawn from organisations who represent a specific part of the sector who have a key stake and focus on developing and leading outdoor learning across the UK.

IOL offers the secretariat to the Outdoor Learning Stakeholder Group which will have a shared Chair model initially.

How OLSG meet

The group will aim to meet 4 times per year virtually with a view to potential face to face meetings in future where appropriate.

Virtual meetings will be held on Thursday mornings at 11a.m. – 12.30p.m. and we encourage a relaxed approach with colleagues sharing and learning together over a cup of tea or coffee.

Sub groups can be set up to discuss areas of particular interest or opportunity.

Working groups may be set up progress particular projects.

Time for questions and open discussion will be on the agenda as well as a short presentation at each meeting about a relevant subject, update or initiative.

The group aims to be a supportive and ‘safe place’ to come together with the common goal of developing outdoor learning.

Who is welcome to join?

Strategic leads and heads of organisations who have a priority focus and purpose of learning in the outdoor natural environment.

This includes: membership organisations, governing bodies, representative bodies and campaign groups.  It does not include outdoor learning providers.
