England’s DfE supported Climate Ambassadors Scheme is recruiting volunteers!
The IOL is supporting and engaging with the Climate Ambassadors scheme. This DfE initiative mobilises and supports educational settings in England to act on climate change with the help of skilled volunteers. Climate Ambassadors from across the private, public, charity and university sectors provide settings with free, tailored guidance to progress their climate action plans, wherever they are on their sustainability journey.
The scheme is recruiting volunteers to put their sustainability expertise to work. Haven’t worked in an education setting (early years, school or college) before? Not to worry, all volunteers will receive training on climate action plans and advice on applying their knowledge and skills in an education setting.
The climate does not respect any human borders, so if you would like to get involved from other countries, or in other ways, the IOL is developing Environmental Stewardship (outdoor-learning.org) Community of Practice Group and take a look at Future Footprints (outdoor-learning.org).
The Government has today launched its first National Youth Strategy in 20 years, pledging over £500 million investment to rebuild youth services over the next decade.
We are calling for the government to introduce a Nature Premium to guarantee regular time in nature for ALL children and young people, with additional funding and support for those who need it most.
