‘Considering Outdoor Therapy Clients: The Role of Ethics in Outdoor Therapeutic Work’

This day event will critically explore and discuss the ethical standards, practices, and professional credentials essential to safe and effective outdoor therapy. This event will explore how therapist qualities, competencies and qualifications impact client trust, safety, and therapeutic outcomes, while addressing the responsibilities practitioners have to uphold these standards. Join us to examine best practices and the ethical implications of competencies, qualifications, accreditations, and best practices in the outdoor therapy field now and into the future.

As part of this event practitioners across a range of outdoor and therapeutic perspectives will be sharing their perspectives on what is ethics.  Speakers include:

Martin Gill, MSc, is a UKCP HCPC registered Systemic Therapist, Psychodramatist, and Dramatherapist who lives and works on Dartmoor.He is a director of Psychotherapy Devon and Changetree, a company that works with therapeutic parenting and couple therapy and directs work with young people and adults. He regularly lectures and explores the ethical use of creativity within NHS settings and private practice as part of the MSc in Family Therapy at the University of Exeter. https://psychotherapydevon.com/

 

Rich Tildesley (Tilly), MSc, is a MBACP registered Psychodynamic Outdoor Therapist, and COSCA Clinical Supervisor who lives in the Scottish Borders. He is the Outdoor Practice & Development Manager at Venture Trust, a charity delivering remote wilderness journeys for clients involved in the criminal justice system in Scotland. Tilly co-developed and delivered Venture Mor’s Wilderness Therapy programme, the first of its kind in the UK, and has 25 years of experience in working with marginalised groups in remote locations. He co-developed Venture Trust’s professional Outdoor Therapy training and is a member of the Association for Outdoor Therapy committee. https://www.venturetrust.org.uk/

 

Lily Horseman is a Forest School practitioner and trainer and is the former chair and current trustee of the Forest School Association. She is motivated by needs-led understanding and compassionate approaches in education.
