Outdoor activity instructor at High Adventure Outdoor Education Centre

 

Location:  High Adventure Outdoor Education Centre, 233 Keighley Road, Cowling, N. Yorkshire, BD22 0AA. 

Start Date: ASAP from 18th May 2026.  

 

Position details: 

An opportunity is now available at High Adventure Outdoor Education Centre based on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, close to Skipton. We are looking to appoint a full time Outdoor activity instructor.  

 

We are in a prime location to deliver exciting outdoor education through a range of activities; working with Primary schools, Secondary schools, family holidays, and youth organisations. We are committed to ensuring the best outdoor experience for our customers and take pride in being a professional, fun, and friendly workplace. 

 

We are looking for an instructor who holds at least 2 from the essential list below, anything from the desirable list would be of great advantage; 

  • Essential: 16 hour first aid, ERCA or CWI training, PSI, Experience in providing outdoor activities in a similar role.  
  • Desirable: Cave leader level 1 training, higher level water sports e.g. PSL. Road cycling knowledge and experience or qualifications would be very beneficial. Full UK driving licence. 

The position is paid in line with national minimum wage directives set out by HMRC as of April 2026; £10:85 - £12.71 per hour with a guaranteed minimum 37.5 hrs per week. Additional hours will be available during busy periods. Working 5 days out of 7 including weekends and evenings. In addition, the position is appointed with auto enrolment into the NEST pension scheme, 28 days holiday per calendar year and access to reduced price equipment deals. Instructors are welcome to eat meals at the centre when groups are in residence. 

 

Private bedroom accommodation can be provided at a cost in line with HMRC accommodation provision deductions, currently £77.70 per week; this is entirely optional and we welcome applications from instructors wishing to live in or out.
