The North Wales Outdoor Education Service operate two 50-bed residential centres in North Wales at Nant Bwlch Yr Haearn (Gwydir Forest) and Pentrellyncymer (near Llyn Brenig). In 2026 we celebrate our 60th year running high quality outdoor learning experiences for schools & groups from across North Wales.
We are now looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic outdoor practitioner to work in each centre starting from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established staff team and have a positive impact on the future of the centres and the service. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of, and commitment to, the role of Outdoor Education within lifelong learning. To enable safe delivery of courses across both Centres instructional staff are required to deliver the full range of activities. You will therefore need to hold the minimum following qualifications :
- ML Summer
- RCI
- BC Paddlesport Leader or equivalent
- First Aid Qualification
- Plus the ability to drive a minibus and trailer
In addition to the above , the ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh would be both highly desirable & advantageous .
Whilst this is a Part-time contract (0.7 FTE) there is an opportunity for staff to work beyond this contract to bring this closer to a full-time position .There is a generous holiday entitlement.
