Call for Workshop Presenters
CALL FOR PRESENTERS
IOL North West Conference – Friday January 29th 2027 at Brathay Hall, Ambleside
Delivering High Quality Outdoor Learning
Call for workshop presenters:
- We would welcome offers from members to run workshops in their areas of expertise. Workshops are typically attended by 10 - 20 people and are 60 minutes long.
- there are also five minute ‘industry update’ slots available
- Lunch is provided
- You would be welcome to bring along a display banner and advertising material.
You may assume you have access to a room, some outdoor space and may specify whom you would like to see as participants, whether it might be suitable for someone new to the field including students; established practitioners; or people in more senior roles.
Costs and Payment
We have always tried to keep overhead costs for the conference as low as possible in order to make best use of our members' money - and in the past have really benefited from people giving their time free of charge. We realise this is not something everyone can afford to do and have a small budget available to pay expenses when required, to ensure we offer the best programme of workshops for our members.

- Aimed at: We have three levels at which we are trying to pitch the workshops: a) Entry level for those new to the field including students, trainees, apprentices – teachers in particular. b) Practitioner level for those with a good level of experience. c) Senior level for managers, decision makers and strategic thinkers.
- Provider's details: name, address and phone number.
- A short (two line) biography - who you are, your experience etc.
- Maximum number of participants
- Resources required eg. room, woodland, outdoor space, computer, projector etc
- Any other info or special requests
- Whether this would fit into the shorter morning slot or 1.5 hour afternoon slot?
- Please indicate whether you are covered by your own or your organisation’s insurance policy. Policy Number
- Please confirm that you have been through a risk assessment process for your workshop. (Note – please do not send any documentation)
All workshop proposals will be discussed at autumn NWIOL committee meeting and confirmations will be sent after that date.
