Our Home Your Adventure
A timeless and truly wild natural environment where mountains rise majestically from the intricate coves and bays of sheltered sea lochs…
Climb in the mountains, sea kayak amongst seals and nesting sea birds, rock climb on ancient crags, survive on uninhabited islands, lift creels from the depths, and far more.
Stay in comfort in a Norwegian-style wooden building where the sea laps just yards from the door and enjoy delicious home-cooked food.
OUR STORY
Rebecca’s parents, John and Marie-Christine, first came to Ardmore in 1964. The remote crofting settlement, three miles from the road in the northwest of Scotland, has been their home ever since.
From here they began a series of ground breaking expeditions, and in 1969 ran the first course at the John Ridgway School of Adventure. Over 50 years later we continue to run adventure courses and summer camps for young people and adults, using the same mountains and coastline and ethos that has little changed in that time.
Ridgway Adventure is just two hours’ drive from Inverness in the north of Scotland. Inverness has simple flight connections from major domestic airports, direct flights from Amsterdam, and direct rail travel from London.
