Biography
Adventure Risk Management Services (Adventure RMS) provide consultancy and inspection services to the Adventure Activities sector in the UK and overseas.
Our team of experienced and active consulting inspectors and inspectors, spread across Great Britain, collectively hold nationally recognised qualifications at the highest level. They have been selected for their personal experience in the delivery and management of adventure activities to young people and adults in the UK and abroad. They draw on considerable personal, practical experience in the safety management of adventure activities and adventure training in the work they undertake on our behalf.
We were appointed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) inspectorate in 2019 and by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) as subject matter experts to the Defence Land Safety Regulator (DLSR) in 2020. We were reappointed to both roles in 2024.
Adventure RMS is also able to provide support for local authorities, the police and others in the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses which occur during instructor led adventure activities. We also work with a range of other clients (companies, charities, schools etc) in relation to the safety and quality of the adventure activities they provide in Great Britain and overseas.
The inspectors are supported in their work by an operations manager, communications officer, consulting inspectors and the head of service.
Our services help to ensure effective risk management systems are in place so that people can take part in instructor-led outdoor adventure activities without exposure to avoidable risks of disabling injury or death.
