Scottish Outdoor Education Centres (SOEC) are looking for Outdoor Tutor Staff for the 2026 season
Key information:
Contract Duration: Fixed term from February to October. Potential for extension into the winter months. Opportunities for shorter contracts are available.
Responsibilities: Inspire and empower young people through outdoor learning activities. You’ll stay with the same group all week, adapting sessions to meet their needs.
Requirements: A genuine interest in the education and development of young people, relevant outdoor qualifications, and ideally a driving licence.
Benefits: Competitive salary £24,897.60 per annum (pro rata) with an increase in April, 28 days holiday (pro rata), single room accommodation if required, opportunities for professional development and training.
Locations: SOEC have 3 locations:
- Belmont Centre - Meigle, Perthshire.
- Broomlee Centre - West Linton, Scottish Borders.
- Dounans Centre - Found in Aberfoyle, Stirling.
Each centre provides a unique setting for outdoor education, offering a variety of activities and programmes designed to inspire and educate young people.
Outdoor Tutor positions at the Scottish Outdoor Education Centres (SOEC), typically need qualifications and or experience, such as:
- Mountain Training Awards (e.g., ML, RCI), Paddle UK Awards (e.g., PSI, PSL)
- First Aid Certification: A current first aid certificate is essential.
- Driving Licence: While not necessary, having a driving licence is preferred.
- Experience: Practical experience in outdoor education and working with young people.
