UWCSEA has full time vacancies for August 2026 at its Dover and East Campus for Outdoor Education Specialists.
The Outdoor Education Specialists are responsible for the design and delivery of the Outdoor Education programme K-12 during term time and high school expeditions during some of the school holidays.
The Outdoor Education department supports an articulated programme ensuring successful curriculum-based, interdisciplinary experiential learning activities and expeditions on campus, local to Singapore and overseas. The Specialists are expected to travel overseas approximately 20 weeks per year.
Main Responsibilities
- Outdoor Education Specialists are expected to lead students on residential expeditions and create memorable experiences by allowing students to take on experiential challenges that build resilience, collaboration, leadership skills and connection to nature.
- Demonstrate competencies and conduct adventure activities such as camp craft, mountaineering, trekking, climbing, sea and white-water kayaking, and dinghy sailing.
- Be able to diligently and confidently attend to wilderness first aid and child safeguarding situations during expeditions and subsequent reporting.
- Delivering day sessions to students eg. High Ropes Course, Expedition Training, Kayaking, Sailing etc.
- Curriculum development, office-based planning and preparation for expeditions including presentation to parents and students, liaising with third-party providers, reviewing Standard Operating Procedures, undertake site visits, risk management review and maintaining equipment.
- Duties will require a flexible and creative approach and will include working with K to 12 students (Primary/ Middle & High).
- Assist with any other duties, tasks or jobs with similar levels of responsibility and complexity to the assigned job grade as may be reasonably requested by the line manager and/or the College

Person Specifications
Qualifications:
- A Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is required, or the candidate commit to complete the certification before joining date
- Minimum of 3 National Governing Body (NGB) Qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience. Examples include but are not limited to the following:
- White Water Rescue Technician
- Mountain Leader / International Mountain Leader
- Kayak Coach / White Water and/or Sea Kayak Leaders
- Powerboat Driver or Safety Boat license or Singapore Marine Port Authority Powered Pleasure Craft Driving Licence,
- Dinghy Sailing Instructor
- Ropes Course Instructor
- Climbing Instructor
- Raft Guide
- Cycling/Mountain Biking Instructor
- Caving Instructor
- National Youth Achievement Award or Duke of Edinburgh International Award Assessor
- Degree is preferred
- Teaching qualification is desirable but candidates without teaching qualification will be considered
Experience:
- At least 5 years relevant experience in leading and designing Outdoor Expeditions
- Experience in leading residential Outdoor Expedition/Trips outside of home country.
- Experience and responsibility for delivering activities both on land, at height and on water in remote settings.
- Experience of residential programme delivery and expeditions
- Experience as trainer or assessor of National Governing Body Awards are desirable
- Instructors with experience leading outdoor education trips to various destinations in SE Asia is desirable.
- Familiar with Child Safeguarding principles and knowledge especially in Outdoor Education setting
Skills and Qualities
- Enthusiasm in professional growth and active participation in community learning
- Proficient in digital productivity suites and collaborative tools, including the use of AI because the role involves programme planning, lesson plan creation, creating training modules for staff, reviewing partner's documentation.
