Freelance Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) Instructor – Action4Youth (A4Y) 2025-26

Location: Various across the UK

Contract: Freelance, Seasonal (varied durations available)

Are you passionate about supporting young people on their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award journey?

Action4Youth is looking for dedicated and experienced Freelance DofE Instructors to deliver and support our DofE programmes for the 2025-26 season. You’ll play a vital role in helping young people achieve their Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, developing their confidence, teamwork, and resilience through outdoor expeditions and activities.

The Role

As a Freelance DofE Instructor, you will:

  • Plan, lead, and supervise DofE expeditions and training sessions, ensuring all activities are safe, educational, and enjoyable.
  • Guide and mentor young people as they work towards their DofE Awards, supporting them through challenges and celebrating their achievements.
  • Deliver training in navigation, campcraft, teamwork, and expedition skills.
  • Ensure all DofE programme requirements are met and maintain high standards of safeguarding and inclusion.
  • Work collaboratively with the A4Y team and partner schools/groups.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in delivering DofE expeditions and training (Bronze, Silver, and/or Gold).
  • Relevant outdoor qualifications (e.g., Lowland Leader, Mountain Leader, or equivalent).
  • A positive, flexible attitude and a commitment to supporting young people from all backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work on a rota, including some evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
