Apprentice Outdoor Education Instructors at Standon Bowers Outdoor Education Centre

Positions: 2 – Applicants must be 18 and over only
Contract Period: April 2026 – October 2027
Pay Rate: £25,481 (April onwards)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week on a flexible 5-out-of-7-day rota, including evenings and weekends
Additional Pay: Up to £60 for an Overnight and Breakfast duty
Accommodation: Not available at any of the centres – You will need your own transport to get to centre
Desirable: Driving licence with B+E entitlement

What You’ll Be Doing

•             Support and deliver a range of outdoor activities and educational programmes.

•             Work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and overnight duties.

•             Contribute to health & safety compliance and best practices.

•             Engage in continuous professional development and work towards NGB awards.

•             Reflect on your practice to improve both personal and centre-wide delivery.

What We’re Looking For

•             Minimum Entry Requirements: Level 1 (GCSE Grade D/3) in Functional Skills Maths and English.

•             Experience working with young people in outdoor settings (desirable).

•             Passion for outdoor activities and education.

•             High standards in presentation, communication, and customer service.

•             Experience in residential outdoor education (desirable).

•             Driving licence with B+E entitlement (advantageous).

•             RP/APIOL accreditation (advantageous).

Note: An Enhanced DBS check and suitable references are required.

Day to Day Duties:

Leading and teaching high quality outdoor learning

Working with an experienced instructing team

Developing own personal skills

Skills Required:

Desirable: Experience working with young people in outdoor settings and experience in residential outdoor education.

Essential: Passion for outdoor activities and education and high standards in presentation, communication, and customer service.
