Overview
Reach Outdoors are now recruiting Seasonal Activity Instructors and Seasonal Lead Instructors to join our friendly and professional team for the 2026 season in beautiful Torbay, South Devon.
Our season begins with a paid induction and training week in early April, and runs through to the end of September.
You’ll be delivering high-quality outdoor experiences for a wide variety of clients — from Year 2 school pupils to sixth formers, family holidaymakers, adult adventurers and multi-day expeditions. With day sessions, residentials, and everything in between, no two days are ever the same, and you’ll gain exceptional hands-on experience throughout the season.
Experience & Qualifications
We’re looking for passionate, professional outdoor instructors who thrive in a team environment and love sharing adventure with others.
Essential requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience within the outdoor industry
- At least 2 recognised activity leadership awards (Lead Instructor: 3+ higher-level awards & 2+ years’ experience)
- 16-hour Outdoor First Aid (within 3 years)
- Level 2 Safeguarding training
- Clean driving licence
- Current DBS or registered with the update service
Desirable qualifications
- MT Summer Mountain Leader / Hill & Moorland Leader / Lowland Leader
- MT RCI, CWI, CWDI, or MCI
- Paddle UK Instructor, Leader or Coach (Paddlesport, SUP, Sea Kayak)
- Coasteering or Gorge Scrambling leadership (with up-to-date logbook or NCC Guide award)
- Bushcraft Leadership or experience
- LCMLA training or Pridhamsleigh Cavern site-specific competence (by CIC)
- Duke of Edinburgh Supervisor/Assessor (up to Gold)
- D1 Minibus Licence (with or without CPC)
- Level 2 Food Hygiene
- GNAS or equivalent archery qualification
- Team-building, problem-solving and group facilitation experience
Rates of Pay
Role Hourly rate equivalent Pro Rata Salary (37.5 hrs / week)
Activity Instructor. ~£25,350 per year (pro rata)
Lead Instructor ~£26,325 per year (pro rata)
Contracts are full-time seasonal positions (minimum 37.5 hours/week). Our flexitime system means some weeks may be lighter and others busier, allowing us to make the most of great weather and busy periods.
