Are you passionate about the outdoors and motivated to make a real difference in young people’s lives? At Releasing Potential, we use outdoor education as a powerful tool to support students aged 11–18 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. We work across Hampshire and West Sussex, creating inclusive learning environments where young people can grow, achieve, and reconnect with education.
Every young person we work with has an Education, Health, and Care Plan and many have faced significant barriers to learning. Through small-group and 1:1 outdoor sessions, we help them rebuild confidence, develop new skills, and discover their strengths. The work isn’t always easy - but the breakthroughs, big or small, are truly rewarding.
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need a traditional teaching background - just a love of the outdoors and a desire to help young people thrive.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead safe, engaging outdoor sessions (group or 1:1) throughout the day.
- Plan and deliver activity programmes that meet each learner’s needs, recording progress toward National Governing Body qualifications.
- Maintain relevant qualifications and ensure all equipment is safe and ready to use.
- Carry out risk assessments, including checking weather conditions and adapting plans as needed.
- Share regular updates with schools, parents, carers, and referring agencies.
- Keep accurate, accessible student records for use across the team.
You Will Need
- A full UK driving licence (essential).
- An NGB Instructor Qualification (desirable).
- A valid First Aid certificate.
- Understanding of SEMH, trauma-informed practice, or communication differences.
- Patience, empathy, creativity and resilience.
- Experience working with young people in outdoor settings.
- SEN experience is beneficial but not essential - we value passion and potential.
