SALARY: £24,120 - £26,630 per annum.
HOURS: Flexible - 35 hours per week (evening and weekend working)

The centre comprises three distinct woodland areas, each support facilitation of a variety of forest school, bushcraft, and outdoor education activities. These spaces allow for creative programme delivery tailored to different groups and learning outcomes. On-site classroom and office facilities will support both practical and administrative needs, ensuring a well-rounded and professional environment. The role will be supported by a dedicated business support and marketing team, enabling you to focus on leading impactful programmes and managing the development of this exciting new venture.

Purpose of the Role
To deliver inclusive and engaging outdoor learning sessions to young people of all abilities, supporting their development in confidence, independence, and resilience through high-quality, age-appropriate activities. Delivery of forest-based learning to include but not exclusively: Art, Bushcraft, Den building, Expedition skills, Habitat walks, Orienteering, Pond dipping, Pond study, Leadership activities, Confidence building, Team building, Adventure walks, Woodland survival and STEM adventures.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a variety of outstanding forest school/bushcraft and outdoor learning sessions.
- Support learners with a wide range of needs, using adaptive approaches and person-centred communication.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants, completing dynamic risk assessments and responding appropriately to incidents.
- Deliver activities which align with the Forestry England guidance.
- Prepare, maintain, and check equipment to ensure it is safe and ready for use.
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver residential courses and offsite visits.
- Support the collection of learner feedback and contribute to evaluating programme success.
- Participate in regular training and development, including safeguarding, SEND awareness, and activity-specific upskilling.
- Promote a welcoming, inclusive environment that aligns with Petty Pool’s values and culture.
- Follow best practice and aim for excellence of sustainability in your delivery.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Qualified in Forest School or Bushcraft. (E)
- One or more NGB activity awards (e.g., Climbing Wall Instructor, Paddle Sports Instructor) (D)
- First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain). (D)
- Driving licence advantageous (E)
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in delivering educational forest activities
- Competence in safeguarding practice
- Strong interpersonal and group management skills.
- Experience working with individuals with SEND is highly desirable.
- Experience of delivery within alternative education.
- Passionate about outdoor learning, youth development, and inclusive practice.
- Able to work flexibly, including evenings and overnight residentials (if the need arises to support partner centres).
