My love for the outdoors started at a young age. From spending my childhood in the woods to progressing through the Cubs, Scouts, and Army Cadets, I have always enjoyed, walking, camping, fishing, and wilderness living.
Driven by this lifelong passion, I am a fully qualified Bushcraft, Survival, and Wilderness Living Instructor and a recognized professional, within the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL). I find real joy in teaching these essential, traditional bushcraft skills while also exploring innovative, modern techniques for leading in the wilderness. My teaching approach is relaxed and fun, always keeping the learner's experience at the forefront of every session.
To ensure the highest standards of safety and instruction, I hold the following qualifications:
• Instruction: NCFE Level 4 Bushcraft, Survival and Wilderness Instructor.
• Navigation: NNAS Silver Navigator Award; NCFE Level 3 Land Navigation.
• Bushcraft & Survival: NCFE Level 3 & Level 2 Bushcraft, Survival and Wilderness Living Skills.
• Specialist Skills: NCFE Level 3 Primitive Crafts; NCFE Level 3 Foraging; NCFE Level 3 Axe Proficiency & Charcoal Making; NCFE Level 3 Animal Tracking.
• Safety & Compliance: Outdoor First Aid, Level 2 Food & Hygiene, Enhanced DBS Check.
Alongside my outdoor expertise, I bring over thirty years of experience in the Defence and Engineering sectors, operating up to senior management levels. As a Fellow Chartered Manager through the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), I stay closely aligned with contemporary leadership and management practices. I understand how to lead teams, coach individuals to achieve their full potential, and deliver multi-million-pound projects internationally. I am no stranger to going the extra mile.
I now find myself in the privileged position of combining these two worlds, providing bespoke outdoor training programs that blend leadership development with bushcraft and wilderness living.
Community is also incredibly important to me. I actively volunteer as a bushcraft instructor for the Scouting Association, ensuring the younger generation learns these valuable skills to aid their personal development. I also regularly participate with bushcraft community groups along with taking part in outdoor challenges to support various charities and good causes.
When not working, you will find me exploring with my family and our two dogs, travelling, and enjoying life in our camper van.
