Are you looking to start a career in the outdoors or fancy a change of profession? At Longridge Activity Centre, we have an exciting opportunity to start your outdoor instructing journey. Longridge Activity Centre is situated on the River Thames, in Marlow, and is the ideal location to begin your career in the Outdoor Industry. We offer watersport sessions in kayaking, canoeing, paddleboards, bell boats and Dragonboats as well as land activities such as climbing, high ropes, archery and axe throwing. We are a growing Centre with new activities in the pipeline and looking for people excited to be part of these projects.

As an Apprentice Instructor at Longridge, you will receive comprehensive training to become an Outdoor Activity Instructor in a range of activities on both land and water, over 10 months (possibility to extend to 12 months for the right candidate). You will deliver sessions to a diverse variety of clients including school groups, secondary school students, youth groups and corporate clientele. The apprenticeship will be delivered in partnership with Industry experts, Channel Training.

You will learn and develop the skills necessary to prepare, plan, deliver and conclude activity sessions, in a safe and fun manner. As an Apprentice Instructor you will have the opportunity to also gain industry standard National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications such as:

  • Paddle UK Paddlesport Safety & Rescue
  • Archery GB Instructor
  • ERCA High Ropes Instructor
  • Lowland Leader Training (if 12 month placement)
  • Outdoor First Aid (16 hr)
  • Safeguarding

As part of your apprenticeship, you will be given time for off-the-job training to work on your existing skills and additional training opportunities, in addition to the NGB qualification training. This includes in-house sign offs in activities to help build your soft skills, group management and instructor style. Activities include:

  • Laser Tag
  • Axe Throwing
  • Aeroball
  • Bushcraft
  • Water Orbs
  • Team Building
  • Trebuchet
  • Orienteering

  • Nightline
  • Buggy Build (coming in the 2026 Season)

You will be part of the Activities Instructor Team who will support you by being Industry Professional role models and help nurture your confidence and ability to deliver your activity sessions.
