Instructor/Organiser at Scaladale Outdoor Activity Centre 

Contract type: full time permanent

2 full time permanent posts. Salary £27.5k - £35k depending on experience and qualifications. 

Starting date Spring 2027 

The LHYCA Scaladale Centre on the Isle of Harris is looking for 2 people with instructing and organising skills. You will be either performing these functions elsewhere and looking for a change of scenery or be an assistant / deputy manager ready for the challenge of stepping up.  We would also consider experienced instructors who want to develop their skills organising a residential centre. 

You must be competent to take on the safety and risk management requirements of maintaining our small instructing team and equipment to the highest standards.

Scaladale is equipped to offer a broad range of activities including kayaking, sailing, power boat trips, coasteering and gorge scrambling, climbing, mountain biking, hill walking as well as many other activities. Activities are held both on-site and at various stunning off-site locations across the island. The Centre hosts annually recurring residentials for school, church and youth groups from across the Western Isles and mainland Scotland. The centre offers accommodation for 28 people and operates as a hostel between our key residential bookings.

Lewis and Harris Youth Clubs Association is a charity. It is a not-for-profit, community orientated organisation, which aims to encourage outdoor engagement in the local community, particularly local young people. run by a volunteer committee, whose members are drawn from the local community. It is important that instructors support and encourage this community ethos amongst staff and volunteers.
