Avon Tyrrell, UK Youth’s nationally respected outdoor centre, is looking for a motivated Lead Instructor to join our dynamic and supportive team.

As a Lead Instructor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, inclusive outdoor learning experiences for a truly diverse range of groups, from schools and youth organisations to community groups and specialist programmes. No two days are the same, and you’ll have the chance to make a meaningful impact on young people from all backgrounds.

This is an excellent opportunity if you are:

  • Looking for a first step into senior responsibilities, or
  • Wanting to consolidate your existing experience in a larger, well-established centre. 

As a lead instructor you will get to help shape the daily delivery of programmes, support and guide less experienced staff, and contribute to maintaining our reputation for excellence, all while continuing to grow your own skills and confidence.

Requirements

Candidates should hold:

  • A valid first aid certificate
  • BC Coach Award or minimum BC Paddle sport Instructor
  • Archery GB instructor
  • ERCA Traditional Instructor
  • An additional walking, climbing, biking or environmental qualification.

Candidates should have:

•    Previous experience of working in an outdoor centre for a minimum of 18 months and of delivering high standards of customer care.
