Membership of YEG
Any individual or organisation involved in expeditionsfor young peoplemmay apply to become a member of The Young Explorers' Group (YEG).
Note: for existing IOL Members to become a member of YEG, select "Young Explorers' Group" from the options of Specialist Sector Groups.
Those who wish to influence and be associated with the work of the YEG as a full member must be a member of IOL. Membership is open to individuals and groups. This will give entitlement not only to membership to the YEG but other Specialist Sector Groups within IOL (see - IOL Membership) as well as all other aspects of what IOL sets out to do. All full members of YEG shall conform with the IOL Code of Conduct.
A member of YEG may resign at any time but should give notice to IOL and in writing to the Secretary of the YEG committee. No paid current membership fee, or outstanding monthly portion of a membership fee, will be repaid.
Any full member of YEG may make a complaint about the work of YEG but this must be done in writing to the Chair of the YEG committee and will follow the procedure set out in the IOL Complaints Policy. The YEG Chair may appoint a small ad hoc group that shall include the CEO of IOL, to make a ruling. The decision of that group is final and shall be communicated in writing to the complainant.
Registered Supporter of YEG
In the current climate in which the expedition sector provision functions, the YEG has established the category of Registered Supporter. This is intended for those who wish to support the work of the YEG, but not commit to full subscription-based Membership.
Such a person or organisation will be on the IOL list of non-members. Registration enables a named person or organisation to be informed about the work of YEG and to attend gatherings such as a Forum, for which there may be a fee.
A registered Supporter has no voting rights on the affairs of YEG and such a person or organisation cannot serve as an Officer or on the YEG Committee through such a registration. Such a person had no recipricol membership rights of IOL.
