Andy Robinson steps down as IOL CEO

IOL has been led for the last 12 years by Chief Executive Andy Robinson. Andy stepped down from the role on 30th June 2021 with a huge and heartfelt thanks from the Trustees for the tireless work and huge commitment he has shown that has grown the IOL to the prominent role it holds within the sector today.

Mindful of the conversations around the UK Outdoors project, the IOL Board of Trustees do not believe it is the right time to appoint a like-for-like IOL CEO. The board will be ensuring IOL continue to provide business as usual service to its members and engage with key sector partners, through a team approach involving all of the Trustees taking a lead on aspects that closely align with their roles. IOL Trustee Mark (Taff) Lavington will be providing one day a week’s interim support and leadership to the Executive Team of Operations Manager (Louise Keir) supported by Professional Standards Manager (Neal Anderson), to underpin provision of business as usual to members and to assist the team with the future transition in the UKOutdoors project.

Andy will continue to work with the Institute as a Co-opted Trustee focused on completing the UKOutdoors project and related activity.

We wish him well in his role at Lindley Educational Trust and thank him for steering IOL’s development over the past decade.

Mike King
IOL Chair
