Outdoor Learning in the North East

The North East region covers from Berwick on the border of Scotland, to the west with the border of Cumbria, through the beautiful undeveloped landscape of high moorland in Northumberland featuring its many castles and 64 miles of long distance paths bordering the coastline of the North Sea. Dropping down from the North through Newcastle and County Durham into York and ending at Hull with its Maritime history. Whether urban or rural you are never too far from the countryside or coast.

The voluntary committee represents IOL in your region, get in touch with us. We wish to represent your views.

DfE Schools coronavirus (COVID-19) operational guidance (May 2021)

New DfE Schools coronavirus (COVID-19) operational guidance document (May 2021)

Summary

This guidance explains the actions school leaders should take to minimise the risk of transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19) in their school. This includes public health advice, endorsed by Public Health England (PHE).

Who is this publication for?

It is for leaders and staff in:

- primary schools

- secondary schools (including sixth forms)

- special schools, special post-16 providers and alternative provision

- 16 to 19 academies

- infant, junior, middle, upper schools

- boarding schools

We expect independent schools to follow the control measures set out in this guidance in the same way as state-funded schools, and health and safety legislation applies equally to independent schools.

Where this guidance refers to schools, that does not include maintained nursery schools or pre-reception classes.

Residential visits are based around using and protecting existing bubbles. While it doesn’t specify occupation per room it recommends not exceeding 6 (page 47).
