UPDATE - Residential Outdoor Centres in England

We met again yesterday with the senior staff at the Department for Education who are advising the Secretary of State (SoS) on the matter of school guidance on residential visits.

Whilst they have yet to receive a response to their recommendations they have had a clear indication from the SoS office that a response will be made next week.  We shared the current momentum in the sector in terms of media attention, petitions and lobbying and they will communicate with the SoS office in expectation of increased parliamentary pressure as a result of your letters to MPs.

We have another meeting scheduled for Thursday next week anyway, but have their confident assurance that we should be hearing from them before that.

In the meantime do please do everything you can in terms of writing afresh to your constituency MP (using the template and attachments below) and engaging with local media about your particular situation.  It really has made a difference and raised the issue in absolutely the right way with the right people.
