‘The Outjoyment Report’

Report on benefits of outdoors debated in Scottish Parliament

Members of the Scottish Parliament are urging the public to go camping after the publication of a report by Liverpool John Moores University.

A debate in Scottish Parliament today (16th March) makes note to the value of camping for children and young people in the motion debate - the link to the debate motion is below along with where report can be download from (and attached The Outjoyment Impact Report and Full report.)

The Outjoyment Report – co-authored by Dr Kaye Richards, in the School of Psychology – was published in October 2022 and surveyed nearly 11,000 people on the attractions of ‘outdoor’ living. Dr Kaye Richards, senior lecturer in psychology at Liverpool John Moores University and outdoor therapy expert, said: “Camping connects people – to the outdoors, to nature, to each other, and most importantly to themselves."
