Covid-19 situation statement from The National Network for Outdoor Learning (Scotland)

Outdoor learning and play must be at the heart of conversations and planning around the reopening of our schools. This National Network for Outdoor Learning, composed of outdoor learning professionals across Scotland, can readily provide practical advice, resourcing and training for teachers and educators organising learning outdoors with COVID-19 restrictions in place.

Post Covid-19 Recovery Plan submitted to Welsh Government

IOL is pleased to have contributed to and positively supports the Post Covid-19 Recovery Plan for the outdoor sector in Wales. Compiled by members of the Outdoor Alliance Wales, the document describes a coordinated ‘pathway to recovery’ to enable people to return to outdoor recreation and provider-led outdoor activity, in line with current regulations.

Turning learning inside out - supporting schools to re-open by taking learning outdoors

The leading governing bodies and associations involved in helping schools take teaching and learning beyond the classroom have united to set out an ambitious but simple plan to help schools adapt their lessons, curriculum and learning environments. When schools are ready, we are here to support them to re-open to more pupils, by helping them enable high quality learning experiences in school grounds, local spaces and home environments, and to support pupils transition between these different learning environments.

BMC publish a recovery plan for climbing & hill walking

Activity-specific reasoning and measures which could allow phased reopening of the outdoors

Over the past two weeks, the newly formed BMC Covid-19 Working Group has been working hard to develop proposals for phased re-opening of the outdoors for hill walking and climbing. The culmination of this, so far, is a Covid-19 recovery plan for climbing & hill walking which has been submitted to English and Welsh government ministers and departments.
