Partners and Campaigns

Working together for Outdoor Learning

The Institute works to ensure the voice of outdoor learning is heard and valued across the UK.

We work in partnership with other organisations in the sector to ensure a more powerful and consistent voice. We make direct comment submitting evidence to government enquiries and provide articles to national and regional press as well as supporting our partners to strengthen their voice in the sector.

AdventureSmart UK

The adventure Smart UK Campaign encourages people to ask themselves three questions before they start out on a day of outdoor adventure - Do I have the right gear? Do I know what the weather will be like? Am I confident I have the knowledge & skills for the day?

Each AdventureSmart destination has weather advice and good to know guidance for those heading out.

AdventureSmart Lake District Cumbria

Part of the Institute's mission is to increase participation in outdoor learning and this resource help people to get outdoors and "make a good day better.” Encouraging onward progression is also built into the IOL Occupational Standard (and Outdoor Activity Instructor Apprenticeship Standard) and AdventreSmart is an accessible and valuable resource for outdoor professionals to share with those they work with.
