Visitor Experience Manager

Welsh Water

Location: Llyn Brenig site, Denbigh, Conwy

Salary: £33735 - £38562 Band 6

Who we are

What we do at Welsh Water is incredibly important – we give three million customers safe, clean water, take away their dirty water and help to protect our beautiful environment. It’s an awesome responsibility, and we have to earn our customers’ trust every single day. Being the only not-for-profit company in the water industry is certainly a good start. Every single penny we make goes back into looking after their water and environment, rather than going to the pockets of shareholders.

We attract over 600,000 visitors a year to our four key visitor centres, located in some of the most stunning locations around Wales. We offer a wide range of facilities and activities, including water sports, mountain biking, angling, walking and a great cup of coffee or tasty meal in our restaurants which have some of the best views in Wales. Our visitor centres provide a unique opportunity for us to engage with our customers and visitors in a beautiful environment, whilst reinforcing our brand identity and unique business model. We are also proud of the important role that our visitor centres play in delivering our education, conservation and biodiversity ambitions.

There has never been a more exciting time to join us. Over the past five years, we have been investing in our visitor centres to improve facilities and the offering to our customers. We continue to roll out our multi-million pound improvement programme across existing sites and are planning new recreational facilities for the future.

Our ambition is to create a sustainable future for our visitor attractions as hubs for visitor enjoyment, health & wellbeing, reconnecting people with our beautiful environment.

What you’ll do

Your job is to help develop your site as a flagship site for Welsh Water and a leading visitor attraction in Wales by delivering an exceptional visitor experience through the effective management of commercial activities and the wider estate. This is a key role, within the visitor attraction management team and will help shape and deliver our vision for the site.

You will help develop a business plan to ensure ongoing growth, success and sustainability. A key part of your role will be to increase revenue and improve profitability, through business efficiency, innovation and effective marketing, whilst preserving a customer and environment focused ethos. You will have commercial accountability for your own budgets and deliver the highest quality of visitor experience through the effective leadership and development of your team.

As a seasoned operator, you will have proven success at building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and be able to communicate in a constructive, knowledgeable and helpful way, advocating for Welsh Water at all times.
