Apprentice Outdoor Education Tutor - Allnatt Outdoors (Swanage, Dorset) - £175 per week

Apprentice Outdoor Education Tutor

Allnatt Outdoors

Allnatt Outdoors in Swanage are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people who are willing to learn, and are passionate about the outdoor environment. We believe that the ideal inclusive education for every child involves both work in the traditional classroom environment (school based) and spending time in outdoor environments with progressive outdoor learning throughout their school life. We are looking for people who share this belief and want to work with us to make it a reality for the thousands of children that visit us every year.

The Apprentice Outdoor Education Tutor role is ideal for those looking to start their career in the outdoor industry, those who wish to develop from a volunteer role in the outdoors, people looking for a break from formal teaching settings and those finishing education and wanting to progress into a teaching environment. You will be working in our teaching team to run sessions and activities with school and youth groups. You will also take a key role in our customer service, being the main point of contact for groups and assisting in making their stay with us warm, welcoming, safe and secure.

We offer a competitive wage paid monthly with the option to add accommodation and meal packages. £175 per week based on an annualised 35 hours a week. Accommodation and meal package available for £7 a week.

We provide a comprehensive training programme with a wide variety of topics, including ecology and geography fieldwork, adventurous activities and teaching English as a foreign language. We work closely with the Institute of Outdoor Learning, with members of our senior team sitting on the committees, allowing us to offer training opportunities within the wider world of the outdoor sector.

Working days are variable. Typically this will be 5 days a week.

Working times are variable through the week depending on levels of business and programmes running but typically 35 hrs over a 7 day period.

Normal working hours when on programme would be 9am - 5pm, and 7pm - 9pm. Duty systems run on a rotation basis. Typically a split shift 4-10pm evening then sleep in on call overnight and 7.30-9.30am morning duty.

Apprenticeship is set to begin on 6th September and run to October 2020.

Successful applicants are required to undergo an enhanced DBS disclosure, which will be paid for by Allnatt. A background of geography for GCSE / A Level is ideal. Minimum age of 18 years old.
