Associate Business Partnership Opportunity (Director of Operations role)

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to become an Associate Business Partner with a small but well-established peripatetic [AALA approved] provider of outdoor adventure activities to schools and private clients.

The Director of Operations role would be a NON-salaried, but any instructing work would be paid and a benefits package and profit share will be available (subject to reaching agreed sales and expenditure).

Your location: North of England/Midlands [or could be other UK location].

Required qualifications: A range of relevant outdoor adventure NGB qualifications would be considered [plus, some form of managerial/organisational qualification would be desirable, but not essential]

Candidate’s background: While having NGB qualifications is required, what is equally important, is that the candidate will have the right experience and background in adventure activities / outdoor education and business development.

Further, it is essential that they will be able to demonstrate their enthusiasm and drive for taking a sales approach to their day to day involvement, as well as towards the longer-term development of the business.

Partner’s key roles and responsibilities (provisional i.e. subject to discussion and agreement).
• Lead Instructor [subject to appropriate NBG qualifications].
• To take the lead in product definition and development.
• To take the lead on kit management purchase and storage.
• Would be expected to contribute to key aspects of marketing activity.
• Would be closely involved with the recruitment and supervision of freelance staff.
• Would be expected to help with developing and updating policies, practices and procedural guidance.

[The above list is indicative and is an invitation to have a dialogue].

The partner would be expected to help define the future direction of the business and they would be consulted on any significant investment and/or other developmental and operational issues.

The benefits package would be reviewed annually to ensure it is commensurate with the duties and level of business profit [if the level of business significantly improves the package will also improve].

Either party could terminate the agreement with mutually agreed notice period.

If this partnership were successful, and if both parties agreed, it could in the longer-term lead to some form of succession arrangement.

If you are interested in exploring this opportunity, in the first instance, please send (by email to ces4office@gmail.com) your CV (or a short summary of your experience and NBG qualifications) and a brief statement, explaining why you are interested in this opportunity.
