For more than sixty years, we have been working with some of England’s most disadvantaged, disaffected and forgotten young people, providing challenge and inspiration, building confidence and helping them to take control of their future. Building on the skills of our founders, the team that conquered Everest, we now use all kinds of activities - from rock climbing and canoeing to drama and
film making – to challenge, inspire and motivate. We give young people the skills they need to face their problems, tackle them head-on and succeed where they may have previously failed. We empower them to conquer their fears, to express themselves, to trust and respect others. We equip them to become better citizens, making a positive contribution to their communities and our society.

Our Work

We’re on a mission to see young people develop their full potential as individuals and as members of society.


We help to build new futures for young people at risk of being excluded from education or who don’t have a mainstream education place; for those at risk of offending, or newly arrived to the country and for young people with learning difficulties.


Endeavour is proud of the high degree of ‘wrap-around care’ we provide to our young people and the wider community.



You will mainly be working on the Boost project, working with young people with mild to moderate learning difficulties, but will also be working on other projects too as required.  


The project team has a main duty to provide structured programmes of development across the organisation that meets

·       the individual needs of the participants

·       the needs of the groups and

·       the aims / outcomes of the programmes.


You will be working both independently and alongside other members of staff to ensure

·       the planning and implementation of high quality programmes for individuals and groups of young people, which meet their needs, and enable them to reach their full potential as individuals and members of society

·       promotion of the programme to young people and various recruitment agencies

·       networking with other organisations in order to share best practice and increase the range of opportunities available to the young people on the projects


This is a flexible role that will require you to be resilient and organised.


This is a frontline delivery role where you will be expected to deliver sessions to groups of young people both inside and outside the classroom.


The successful candidate will fulfil the following areas:


Personal Development

·       Include personal development as part of your delivery.

·       Establish purposeful and productive working relationships with the young people acting as a role model and setting high expectations.

·       Promote the young people’s independence and thinking skills and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement and self-reliance.

·       Encourage the young people to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all the young people in activities.

·       Promote positive values, attitudes and good behaviour.

·       Encourage the young people to take responsibility for their own actions.

·       Support the young people consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs.

·       Promote punctuality and excellent attendance.

·       Support break-time / lunch-time supervision; use this time to build up rapport with the young people informally.

·       Supervise the young people on visits, trips and offsite activities as required, utilising the opportunity for experiential learning.

·       Encourage the learners to ‘have a go’ at all activities / challenges.



Plan, develop, deliver and evaluate innovative and inspiring schemes of work for sessions which provide challenge to enable the young people to progress personally, socially and academically. Work in partnership with other Endeavour staff as appropriate to maximise learning opportunities and share expertise.

Prepare the young people for qualifications and accreditation where appropriate. Include elements of literacy and numeracy along with other activities.

Differentiate delivery to make the work accessible to a range of young people including ESOL and, SEN.

Engage marginalised young people who present challenging behaviour and are not classroom ready.

Provide feedback to the young people in relation to progress and achievement, following Endeavour policy.

Ensure that the young people’s work is assessed and prepared for moderation.

Establish an appropriate learning environment and maintain a good standard of delivery space appearance.

Engage with young people and their families. This might include phone calls, home visits and encouraging family participation.


Social Action

·       Include social action as part of your delivery.

·       Encourage the young people to be respectful of themselves, each other, the staff, the building and the local community at all times.

·       Promote acceptance and appreciation of diversity by providing opportunities to get to know people from different cultures / backgrounds.

·       Provide opportunities for the young people to learn more about different cultures as part of your delivery.

·       Recycle as much as possible and encourage the young people to recycle and avoid waste.

·       Promote Endeavour Values and encourage the young people to do the same.

·       Support Endeavour at fundraising events.

·       Take part in social action opportunities promoted by Endeavour. 



·       Be responsible for keeping accurate records to maintain comprehensive and accurate project performance information. These may relate to behaviour, rewards, progress, qualifications etc.

·       Deal promptly with conflicts and incidents in line with behaviour management and reward policies.

·       The postholder will be expected to take part in any CPD opportunities.

·       Attend and participate in regular meetings as appropriate.

·       Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, prevent, health and safety, security and GDPR.

·       Support the aims and objectives of the Endeavour leadership team and Board of Trustees.

·       Promote and support quality assurance initiatives.

·       Act responsibly in the care of premises and equipment including vehicles.

·       Determine the need for, prepare and maintain general and specialist equipment and resources.

·       Other duties commensurate with the post and needs of the company.

This post does involve direct work with young people, and the workplace has programmes which are delivered to young people aged 14 upwards.  Please note you will be asked to complete an enhanced DBS check if you are successful at interview.
