Surrey Outdoor Learning & Development (SOLD) provide high quality bespoke learning experiences that are outcome lead. We host groups across our 3 centres [Henley Fort, Thames Young Mariners & High Ashurst] additionally delivering a variety of work through our outreach provision, residential canal boat, Duke Of Edinburgh’s award, outdoor professional development and corporate development. We are a self-funded service governed by Surrey County Council working with a wide and diverse range of clients and groups.
The Senior worker role will manage the weekly to monthly operations of Henley Fort OEC [112 bed centre], the canal boat [11 beds] and the outreach service.
As part of the operations team the role is responsible for;
Management, development and allocation of a staff team
Business development and administration in partnership with our bookings team
Maintaining and monitoring Health and Safety from equipment, risk assessments, professional development, best working practices and more
Maintaining and administrating the resources and facilities in partnership with Operations team and Estates manager
Up holding and developing bespoke, high quality outdoor learning provision
Candidates would be outdoor professionals, committed to achieving excellence, diligent, resilient, adaptable, solution focused, personable and have good time management skills.
Candidates would be appropriately experienced and/or qualified in;
Team leadership and management
Customer service taking enquiries through to high quality outdoor learning experiences
Health and Safety
High quality outdoor facilitation of a wide range of groups [Mainstream education, additional needs, Challenging behaviour, targeted projects, residential’s and more]
Hold a number of professional NGBs such as D1/D1+E, BC Level 2 [old or new], ERCA/CWA/SPA/Rock Instructor, GNAS, Forest Schools, 1st Aid and APIOL
The senior roles are supported and work in partnership with the Operations Team; Assistant Manager [Line manager], operations team members across the service, the centres lead worker [line managed by the Senior] and other departments within the service. The service offer continued professional development opportunities and you will be part of a 40+ team across the county. The role is eligible to Surrey County Council pension and benefits schemes and you will be an integral part of the service and its outdoor education provision.
