Activity Instructor – Summer Season 2019

Blackland Farm, Foxlease & Waddow Hall

Fixed term and casual contracts - £8.09 per hour

Join us this season as an Activity Instructor at one of Girlguiding’s adventure-filled Training and Activity Centres! This will escape the traditional 9 to 5 working day and provide a hands-on, all systems-go experience.

As an Activity Instructor you will organise and deliver sessions in a wide variety of activities, including canoeing, kayaking and rock climbing! You will instruct groups of all ages and abilities and ensure the needs of the client are met by upholding effective communication and most importantly, making sure everyone has fun!

You will assist with the planning and delivery of training sessions, ensuring they are in line with agreed objectives, consistent with the physical abilities of the group and the National Governing Body Objectives and to ensure that all participants have a safe and enjoyable experience so that they will want to visit again!

We offer an extensive training programme where you have the opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and qualifications to deliver the best sessions possible! Business needs vary from centre to centre, however Girlguiding offer instructors a range of qualifications to work towards, including; First aid, Girlguiding level 1 or 2 Climb & Abseil (a Mountain Training approved course), Archery Instructor award, paddle sport leader/instructor award and British Fencing core coach.

You are required to maintain facilities and equipment, in line with defined standards and to inspect equipment prior to use, and at regular intervals, to ensure safe and effective operation. The centres represent the public face of Girlguiding, so all activities must be conducted in a manner which promotes and enhances the organisation’s safeguarding policies, images and reputation.

Girlguiding values the differences that a diverse workforce brings and is committed to inclusivity, and to employing and supporting a diverse workforce. Girlguiding is proud to be part of the Stonewall Diversity Champions programme, a member of the Business Disability Forum, and a member of Time to Change – improving attitudes towards mental health. While Girlguiding’s young members may be female only, our staff team is mixed gender. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of age, disability (physical or mental), gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion and belief, sex, and sexual orientation.
