At Westminster City Council, we believe in creating a ‘City for All’. Somewhere people are born into a supportive and safe environment. Somewhere they grow and learn throughout their lives. Somewhere they have access to high quality, affordable homes. And somewhere they can build fantastic careers in world-leading industries. This is our vision for the Westminster community. And this is your chance to be part of it.
As our Adventure Manager, you’ll manage our outdoor adventure centre at Sayer’s Croft, delivering exciting outdoor activities and learning to thousands of children throughout Westminster and the South East. This is a varied and dynamic role for enthusiastic outdoor centre workers looking to broaden their range of skills and experience. First and foremost, you’ll be responsible for putting our overall vision and strategy into practice, helping us remain competitive and provide a high standard of activities and learning. This includes planning and reviewing our activities, promoting the centre, managing our budgets and hosting groups. There’s also a strong management aspect to the role, as you’ll oversee assistant instructors, deliver training, and support our Deputy Head in recruiting new talent.
Finally, you’ll also be expected to make sure all our equipment and activities fully comply with health and safety standards, carrying out regular risk assessments and maintaining safety records.
Overall the role makes for an excellent opportunity to shape a successful centre’s services, bringing new and exciting ideas to the table while developing more junior staff towards their full potential.
You’ll have sound experience working in an outdoor centre and training other staff. You’ll also be able to undertake risk assessments, manage budgets and deal with a wide range of people, including customers, staff and other organisations.
In terms of qualifications, you’ll have a Single Pitch Award (SPA) in climbing, an Archery GB Leader qualification and first aid training. You may also have a mountain instructor’s qualification, e.g. MIA/MIC or MLTB/BELA, along with a relevant degree or teaching qualification, though these are not essential.
What We Offer:
If you’re productive, ambitious, collaborative and enterprising, this is your chance to take real ownership of your work, right in the heart of Westminster, a true ‘City for All’ and a flagship council. This is a one-of-a kind place where different ideas and perspectives are welcome, and your work truly matters. We never stop aiming higher – join us and help shape our city for years to come.
