Are you passionate about learning and nature?
Could you inspire and empower children and young people to act for nature’s recovery?
Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT) is Devon’s leading wildlife conservation charity, with over 36,000 members, 350 regular volunteers, 100 staff and 63 nature reserves. We are one of the largest locally based organisations that collectively make up The Wildlife Trusts. DWT has pioneered the reintroduction of beavers in England and the restoration of internationally rare habitats like Culm Grassland.
We are looking for a skilled and passionate educator to lead our programmes in schools, particularly across South Devon and Plymouth. Our Wilder Schools and Wildlife Champions programmes are well-established and have been running for over a decade inspiring many hundreds of children and their teachers to connect with, learn about and act for nature.
This post, available due to an internal promotion, aims to consolidate our existing programmes in schools across South Devon, grow our countywide Wildlife Champions programme and collaborate with Marine Engagement colleagues as we expand our network of participating schools in Plymouth. This role involves planning and delivery of nature-based learning sessions with children in school, supporting teachers to grow their knowledge and confidence around nature as they start their nature based learning journey as well as facilitating child led projects in schools, on school grounds and within local communities as children find their voice and act now for nature.
In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing to 28 days after 5 years’ service)
- Agile working arrangements including home working
- Flexitime system
- Salary progression (subject to satisfactory performance)
- Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
- Death in Service cover
- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
- Cycle to work scheme
- Training and development opportunities
This is a full-time, permanent post contractually based at Cricklepit Mill in Exeter, but with regular travel and home working.
Interviews are being held on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 June.
We welcome candidates of all backgrounds and abilities who meet the essential criteria for this role. We are an inclusive organisation that is seeking to involve more diverse audiences in our work.
