Context

Established for over 55 years, Lindley Educational Trust is a nationally recognised provider of development training for young people. The Trust works with over 12,000 young people a year through schools, universities, employers and youth organisations.

Lindley has a Christian foundation and works to an explicit set of values. As a registered Charity the organisation is focused on helping children and young people realise their potential regardless of economic background, gender, faith or ethnicity. Lindley has a particular desire to reach those from the most disadvantaged backgrounds. Much of the Trust’s work involves the use of challenging and inspiring outdoor environments and carefully designed and facilitated experiential learning interventions drawing on adventurous outdoor activities.

In response to a growth in work with employer clients in particular, the Trust is seeking to strengthen its Learning and Development Team.

 

Role Summary

As a key member of the Learning and Development team, the role requires working with the whole range of the Trust’s client and beneficiary groups. It involves managing client relationships, designing and delivering development training interventions and supporting business development. The role also requires working with a range of schools and youth & community groups.

Based at The Hollowford Centre, Castleton, Derbyshire and reporting to the Head of Centres.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Managing corporate clients, including identifying young employees training needs and designing impactful outdoor development training interventions and residential development training programmes.

• Delivery of impactful personal and social interventions for groups that include schools, youth and community groups and young employees.

• Promoting and celebrating Lindley’s impactful training and personal development interventions, helping to grow Lindley’s reputation and client base.

• Support and coaching for fellow Learning and Development Team members and freelance associates, to increase the impact of their delivery.

• Development of innovative resources to enable impactful learning and development interventions.

 

Person Specification

Essential

Experience of running personal and social development programmes for a range of young people’s groups (25 years and under) using adventurous activities in the great outdoors.

Ability to design, prepare, lead and evaluate learning interventions (managing and supporting other staff to deliver desired outcomes) for a wide range of learner groups.

Record of client management, including meeting employers, identifying young employee training needs, presenting training and development solutions.

A passion for working with people in the outdoors. At least one outdoor qualification including RCI, Canoe Coach level 2 or LCMLA.

Level 5 Learning & Development qualification or equivalent

Ability to drive minibuses with full D1 and trailer entitlement

Experience of learning & development and performance management systems & processes.

Commitment to CPD and willingness to share learning with colleagues

Drive and appetite to meet the development needs of young people regardless of background, gender, faith or ethnicity

 

Desirable

Experience of delivering a range of outdoor personal development programmes for young employees, including use of personality profiling

Demonstrable ability to innovate and create original solutions (beyond exercise design) to meet learning and development needs.

Ability to sell the benefits of development training interventions to employer clients and develop client relationships

Wider experience and qualifications in outdoor adventurous activities e.g.  ML, MIAS, Bushcraft award

Relevant training qualification and/or education/behaviour related degree with demonstrable ability to design creative and innovative learning interventions

Experience of line management, coaching and mentoring

Experience of supporting the professional development of others and researching good practice

 

Remuneration & Benefits

Salary Range: £30,000 -£38,000+bonus

Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays + Contributory Pension
