Apprentice Outdoor Activity Instructor with Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team 

Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team (WOLT) is a dynamic Christian organisation delivering outdoor learning activities across the Wiltshire area.

They have vast experience in working with a wide range of ages and abilities, from small children to corporate groups, and extensive experience in working with young people with challenging behaviour. WOLT love to ‘Go wild!’ in Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset – offering truly original outdoor adventure activities that challenge, develop, are educational and fun!

Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team are hiring several Apprentices to join their team starting in September 2022. The apprenticeship is based from Thoulstone Park, Chapmanslade, Wilts, BA134AQ

The Apprentices will gain the experience and skills needed to become an Outdoor Instructor in the Outdoor Adventure / Education Industry.

This role involves learning the set skills and obtaining the relevant qualifications to safely deliver quality outdoor activity sessions (canoeing, walking, ropes course and archery) as well as learning the group management skills to deliver engaging sessions.

The Apprentice will work alongside a team, mainly based at the Thoulstone Park, working with tourists and school children. Other tasks involve the maintenance of kit, building of new activities / resources and evaluation of sessions delivered (this may be in written form).

Day to day duties:

Lead and run activities

Site work

Kit inspections

Cleaning

Planning sessions

Essential Skills and qualifications:

Ability to communicate effectively with peers and children

GCSE Grade E-D /2-3 in Functional Skills Maths and English is essential.

Desirable skills:

Basic Map reading ability.

Basic canoe skills

Ability to ride a bike

DofE Bronze

Future Prospects:

WOLT sometimes continue employment beyond the end of the 18 months, however these positions are limited and they like to encourage instructors to go and explore employment in other centres and possibly countries.

Other Information:

Please note: Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team have no onsite accommodation so candidates need to be able to arrange own transport to work sites at Chapmanslade, BA13 4AQ

Essential Details:

Hourly rate: Apprentice National Minimum Wage

Contract: 13 month contract

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Closing Date: Thursday 14th July 2022

Interview Date: Thursday 21st July 2022

Possible Start Date: Thursday 1st September 2022
