Activity Instructor at Calvert Trust Exmoor

£19,000 - £25,000. Full time, 35 hrs/week average. Contract: June – November.

Calvert Trust Exmoor is a charity specialising in outdoor experiences for people of all abilities. We endeavour to break down barriers to provide opportunity and build resilience through fun, high-quality outdoor experiences. Our instructors are at the forefront of this.

Our instructor team are dynamic, customer-focused leaders. We pride ourselves on a fun, supportive working environment, and strive towards exceptional delivery and life changing outcomes.

As part of our instructor team, you will have a good understanding of group management, risk, and challenge. You will be required to work proactively and will spend most of your time delivering multi-activity programmes to vulnerable groups and disabled people. You will be required to work some overnights shared amongst the instructor team, which cover evening group arrivals, and light evening activities. You are not required to work during the day when you are on overnight duty. Overnight duties are counted as full working days, and half a days’ time off in lieu.

To apply, you will need to have a minimum of 2 NGBs or equivalent in the following areas or be working towards them. CWI or RCI, BC Paddle sport Leader or BCU Level 1, RYA Dingy Instructor, Archery GB. Higher Qualifications and experience are welcomed and reflected in salary.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

Experience working at a residential centre

Mountain Biking, Bushcraft, horse riding and surfing qualifications or skills

Experience or knowledge of working with those with disabilities

D1 + E

Current First Aid and Lifeguarding qualification
