Field Studies and Environmental Education PPG Gathering

PGL Osmington Bay, Weymouth, Dorset

An opportunity for members to meet, share challenges, ideas and solutions,
and be updated with latest news from around the sector and from other members.

There will be a range of workshops on specific subjects and networking time in the day.

  • Session options:

  • - Exam Board/Curriculum update – including a centre Case Study
    - Apps/IT/GIS – sharing workshop on the technology used by members in their provision
    - Carbon Cycle – Tom H from Skern Lodge will present a session he has developed
    - Mindfulness and Wellbeing – Karen W from Lea Valley presents an outline of how they have introduced this and highlights some of the key topics
    - Rockpooling/Marine Zonation (demonstration/best practice) – PGL staff will showcase their study sessions, from KS2 to A-level
    - Minibeasts/Invertebrates (demonstration/best practice) – PGL staff will showcase their study sessions, from KS2 to A-level
    - Survivor/Bushcraft – (demonstration/best practice) – PGL staff will showcase their sessions, and invite others to share their practice.

  • Timings:

  • 9.00 to 9.30 – Intro and setting the scene – led by the Committee
    10.00 to 10.30 - Session 1
    Comfort Break
    10.45 to 11.45 – Session 2
    12.00 Lunch
    13.00 – Site Tour/Networking time.
    We will include a show and tell resource space – bring your own favourite resources. Plus a question from us to members - what should we recommend to young people looking for a career in Field Studies – answers on a flipchart.
    14.00 to 15.00 - Session 3
    15.00 to 16.00 – Session 4
    Comfort Break
    16.15 to 17.15 – Session 5
    17.15 to 18.00 – Review/Plenary/Updates and Group AGM
