The IOL Field Studies Professional Practice Group are delighted to invite field studies and environmental education practitioners from the UK and abroad to the biennial Professional Development Event (PDE) at Leeson House Field Studies Centre located in the beautiful Isle of Purbeck (Dorset).
This event will allow practitioners from a range of backgrounds to communicate and network with other colleagues from the outdoor education industry. There will be opportunities to take part in many informative workshops, off site visits and discussion groups. A number of presentations and speakers are also planned, as well as a hog roast and barn dance on the Saturday night.

Leeson House Field Studies Centre, located on the outskirts of Swanage, is a secluded and comfortable residential centre providing tuition to a range of school ages and universities from the UK and abroad. The Centre strives to provide a stimulating learning experience for all groups, including specialist outdoor learning courses. The centre is close to many classic geography, geology and biology fieldwork sites along the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and is set in 7 acres of inspiring and diverse grounds.
Leeson House is part of the Dorset Outdoor Education Service which itself is part of Childrens Services within Dorset County Council. Celebrating its 50th anniversary of being a field studies provider in 2017, the centre is delighted to host the PDE again after hosting the first ever NAFSO event in 1969 and also organising and facilitating the same event in 2000.
