Background to Leave No Trace
Leave No Trace is a stewardship training programme that combines knowledge and judgement with ethical responsibility. It is designed to expand the understanding of how we can enjoy the outdoors while protecting the natural areas and the experiences we all enjoy.

The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, is a not for profit organisation based in the USA, whose mission is to promote and inspire responsible outdoor recreation through education, research and partnerships. There are also branches operating in Ireland, Canada and Australia.

The Instuitute for Outdoor Learning is a partner organisation of the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. Leave No Trace is an Outdoor Ethic approach and programme designed to promote and inspire responsible outdoor recreation through education, research and partnerships. |

Leave No Trace - The Workshop in 2008-9
- Purpose - The workshops were delivered to further explore the Leave No Trace principles and how they tie into the Scottish Outdoor Access Code (The Code).
- Who were the workshops for? - The events were free of charge. The workshops were suitable for anyone working in the world of outdoor learning, outdoor education or adventure activities and regularly work in, or visit, Scotland. They were also relevant for some rangers and outdoor access officers.
