IOL Member Rob Barber has set a world record by making a mobile phone call from the top of Everest


In the early hours of 21st May Rob made two calls from Everest's North Ridge.

He described the view, how cold he was and what he wanted to do when he got back to base camp. Then he called his wife and children.

It is also worth mentioning that James Lancashire, an individual member who is currently in the APIOL process, reached the summit two days after Rod Baber.
