Canoeists demand ‘right to float’


Canoeists are calling for a “right to float” on all rivers in England and Wales.
The demand comes after a report by the EnvironmentAgency which suggests that access for canoeists could best be regulated by voluntary agreements for each river, rather than allowing unfettered access. But the British Canoe Union says that individual agreements would take too long to negotiate.
