May 10 IOL is a member of the English Outdoor Council, a body which has recently presented a paper to a selection of Ministers and MP’s entitled ‘TIME FOR CHANGE IN OUTDOOR LEARNING - Hard evidence on the value of the outdoors and a challenge to deliver fair access for all’. The paper points out the evidence that challenging outdoor activities and environmental studies contributing to the meeting of important education, health, anti-social behaviour and community cohesion targets. The paper goes on to argue that there is a clear economic case for the public funding or such activities, including access to a residential experience for all young people.
