Activity Residential Care Worker
Care UK Children's Services

Location: Shropshire or Barmouth
Salary:   (review pending)

We have vacancies for Activity Residential Care Workers for our Children's Home on the Welsh Coast near Barmouth, due to expansion and at our established home in rural Shropshire, due to internal promotions.

These homes use outdoor activities to engage with the young people we care for who are in crisis and display challenging behaviour and we have one of the broadest AALA licences in the country.  We are currently looking at more ways of linking adventurous activities into the content of the National Curriculum.

We are therefore seeking individuals who hold one or more of the following qualifications:  Local Mine Leader, Local Cave Leader, Mountain Leader, Single Pitch Assessment, NGB L2C/K, NGB L3C/K/S.

The role is rewarding and, at times, challenging and requires commitment, energy and self-motivation. The successful candidates will be experienced Activity Instructors with a flexible, professional and organised approach. Strength of character and the ability to be a positive role model for the traumatised young people we care for is essential in order to safely and consistently apply boundaries in their lives.

You will be required to complete Induction and Foundation training programmes and to complete NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care once confirmed in post. You will need to have good communication and interpersonal skills in order to complete all aspects of your role.

Excellent development opportunities available in terms of qualifications, experience and career development. Applicants must be over 21 (GOR - this is an exempted vacancy Employment Equality Act [Age] Regulations 2006) and hold a full driving licence. The shift pattern is 2 days on, 4 days off.

Please contact Lee Pritchard on 01694 724488 for an application form.
