The Institute encourages participation in outdoor learning by developing quality, safety and opportunity in outdoor provision and by supporting and enhancing the good practice of those who work in the field. We support these aims with a commitment to excellence, supported by our policies of environmental sustainability and management of diversity. The Institute is funded entirely through membership subscription and occasional generous donations to help us achieve our aims. Whether you enjoy recreation, expeditions, bushcraft, adventure, therapy, teaching or learning in the mountains, hills or wilderness, on water or land, in rural or urban areas, there will be benefits to you to visit this site or to become an active member.
